Notes on Action

DescriptionFWIKI

Based in Ancona , Dubourdieu will never stop wanting to take from the English the island of Lissa (today the Croatian island of Vis) , which serves as a base for them to control naval traffic along the coasts of Italy . On October 22, 1810 , having left Ancona with the frigates Favorite , Uranie , Corona , the corvettes Bellona , Carolina and two bricks , he forced the entrance to the port of Lissa , destroyed the English depots there , set fire to the ships at anchor , and returned in Ancona with 6 captures and 300 prisoners , while escaping the English ships that went to sea .
