The boats of the Spartan, 38, Captain Jahleel Brenton, Amphion, 32, Captain William Hoste, and Mercury, 28, Captain the Hon. Henry Duncan, supported by those frigates, bombarded the town of Pesaro on the Adriatic coast, and, driving out the French troops, destroyed the castle and carried off every vessel which had not been scuttled by the enemy. All this was achieved without loss. Lieutenants George Wickens Willes. Charles George Rodney Phillott, and William Augustus Baumgardt commanded the various divisions of boats.
