6.3.1698/99 Court Martial : Court Martial held on 6 March, 1699 on board the Resolution at Spithead, Captain Basil Beaumont of the Resolution and Commander in Chief of ships at Spithead, President with 12 named officers, to enquire into complaints of the ship's company of the Penzance, Captain John Aston, for several irregularities, also for making Robert Patrick and John Evans discharged on the ship's books whereas they had run. The court found Captain Aston guilty and dismissed him from the command of the Penzance. Also Charles Reileigh of the Swiftsure was accused, with Moses Sunbury and Thomas Rumsey, of rape by Anne Hamlet of Ryde, Isle of Wight. In court she declared the information was false.
