He was born 2 May and baptised 12 May 1726 at Finedon, Northants, acccording to the Finedon parish register.

At Bathe, in his 74th year, Philip Affleck, esq., admiral of the White; a zealous and brave officer; a firm advocate, both in theory and practice, for the Christian religion; an honest man, and a faithfully affectionate friend. He was made Captain in 1759, rear-admiral in 1787, vice-admiral in 1793, and full admiral in 1795.
