The following sources say that Captain Thomas Philpott died in May 1742: Isaac Schomberg, /Naval Chronology/, V, 320; John Charnock, /Biographia Navalis/, V, 112; Syrett & DiNardo, per my notes (I don't have a page ref.). Could there have been two Thomas Philpotts?
