Captain Poulden is appointed to command the Calcutta, of 42 guns, in the room of Captain Canes. [Hampshire Chronicle, 11 November 1797]

There are references to Commander later Captain, although described as Captain in this reference. Circa Feb 1801 Alkmaar (hospital ship), Capt Poulden. 7 Aug 1801 Alckmaar, Capt Poulden departed Sheerness, for the Downs, to assist those wounded off Boulogne etc. 19 Aug 1802 Aimable with Alkmaar Capt Poulden arrived Spithead, Alkmaar continued to the East.

Is there anymore known about Richard Poulden?
Was he is a Lieutenant, Commander, and Captain only on the Calcutta? Or did he become Captain of a different ship?
I am a desdent of his and would like to know more about him.
