The Devonshire Hritage Centre (ref 4917B/T/1) has a release for Okehampton dated 1805, the parties involved being

1) Henry Jole of Okehampton, gentleman
2) John Coward Williams, formerly residing at Stonehouse, gentleman, but now a Lieutenant in H.M. Navy commanding the gun brig 'Fearless'

thus proving his full name is John Coward Williams

Problem is the Jihn Williams is, as I'm sure you are aware, a very common name. I have no information on the why or where of his death.
As indicated the date of death comes from the book by Bonner-Smith, DiNardo and Syrett. This was published by the Navy Records Society as a special publication in 1994. It is based on an original list held by Ancestry (but that doesn't have the date of death)

I would love to confirm if this John Williams is my ancestor - do you have details of where he died (I have some oral history on this, but won't say too much as it's not 100% and as yet unverified) Also would love to know how you have such a specific date of death - again I have not managed to find any records that provide this level of detail. Really hope this is my John Williams.
