The Gentleman's Magazine, 1794, (Deaths) Jan. 31 - At his house in Great-Suffolk street, Charing-cross, in his 83rd year, Marriot Arbuthnot, esq. Admiral of the Blue. His last surviving son, who died a few years ago, married Elizabeth, the daughter of the Rev. Joseph Rumney, Vicar of Berwick upon Tweed. An amiable and beautiful young lady, to whom it is said, the Admiral has left his fortune.

Edinburgh Advertiser May 2, 1780
Extract of a letter from an officer in Admiral Arbuthnot's fleet, dated Charles-Town Bar, the 9th March.
We are in sight of the rebel flee, which is at anchor off Sullivan's Island. We expect to go in tomorrow with his Majesty's ships Renown, Romulus, Raleigh, Roebuck, Blonde, Perseus, Camilla, and the Germain armed ships. The rebel ships in sight are the Boston, Providence, Queen of France, Ranger, and Notre Dame with the Bricole of 20 twenty-four pounders, the Chamier frigate of 32 guns, and another ship of 20 guns. The last three are French. We are just now going over the bar. Our army will have a battery of 40 pieces of cannon against Charles-Town tomorrow.
