Fourth son of George, fourth Earl Waldegrave, by his first cousin, Elizabeth Laura, eldest daughter of James the second Earl, and half sister to H.R.H. the present Duke of Gloucester.
This officer obtained the rank of Lieutenant July 29, 1806, and commanded a division of boats at the capture and destruction of a French convoy, in the Bay of Rosas, Nov. 1, 1809. On the 29th of the same month he arrived at the Admiralty with despatches from Lord Collingwood, and three days afterwards he appears to have been promoted. His post commission bears date Mar. 8, 1611.
Captain Waldegrave married, July 1812, Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Samuel Whitbread, Esq. M.P. by whom he has several children.
