Sir Richard's grandfather named John was a ferryman at Chelsea. Richard's son born 1680 died 1725 became an MP, Governor of Pendennis Castle & Colonel in the 13th Hassars. His widow Susan Gore remarried to Altham Smith, the youngest son of a notable family of Theydon Mount, Essex & had a daughter before her death around the end of the century named Althamia who was later to marry William Parkhurst.
