Some account of the life of late Admiral Boscawen - The late Right Hon. Edward Boscawen, Esq. was the second surviving son of Hugh, late Ld. Viscount, Falmouth; and having entered early into the navy, was Capt. of the Shoreham, 20 guns, in 1740 and distinguished himself as a volunteer under Vernon Nov. 21at the taking and destroying the fortifications of Porto Bello. At the siege of Carthagna, in March 1740-41 he had the command of a body of seamen, who resolutely attacked and took a fascine battery of fifteen 24 pounders, tho exposed to the fire another fort of 5 guns, which they knew nothing of, and spiked up all those cannon, by which Gen Wentworth had complained the enemy had much galled him.
