combat du cap Clear du 24/09/1695 :
- 30 POLASTRON ( 30 canons montés sur 36 ): capitaine : jacques le fer de la Bellière.
contre 2 vaisseaux d'escortes anglais protégeant un convoi de 20 navires marchands provenant des îles d’Amériques.
il capture par abordage le - 36 BETTY 5 rang : Capitaine : john Popwell tué. le second vaisseau , le TIGRE est refoulé et fuit avec le convoi.
le BETTY sera armé pour la course ( repris le 25/02/96.)

le corsaire est félicité par le Ministre de la Marine et il reçoit une épée d'honneur du Roi Louis XIV .

le jeune corsaire est tué en duel à la sortie d'un cabaret le 29 mai 1698.
