His name appears in an engraving in La Rochelle France. Was captain of Price of Wales privateer from Guernsey in 1748. Was 42 years old at the time and born in Weymouth. Driven to Dinan 13th may 1748. Taken on the Fox in 1746, on the Adventure in 1747 and on the Guernsey in 1757.

An engraving from Richard Dowling in the Lantern tower in La Rochelle (France) says John Beale was captain of Prince of Wales privateer in 1748. Aged 42 years, he was born in Weymouth, and driven to Dinan the 13th may of 1748. He had been taken on the Fox from Guernsey in 1746 and on the Adventure in 1747, and then in 1757 on the Guernsey.
