In 1829 Captain Charles Bowen is in Bristol where he is witness to the will of Miss Barbera Montier, a recusant spinster who leaves her money to Father Henry Riley, the priest who completed the Church of the Sacred Heart, Axminster in 1831. Fellow witness is Lieutenant Walter Pike.
