Richard Brothers was commissioned "3d Janry 1783" [not June] in the Leeward Islands by Admiral Hugh Pigot as 4th Lieut., St Albans, 3d/64; confirmed by Admiralty 29 Sep 1783 (ADM 6/23, p. 145)
