24.8.179328.12.1793During the Revolution, he became commissioner of the department of Var, and as such, with twenty-seven other personalities from Toulon, he signed the declaration of August 24, 1793 which called for the help of the city of Toulon the British admiral Hood, to who the declarers handed over the city and the fleet and proclaimed Louis XVII their legitimate king. He had signed the “Deydier Cadet” declaration. On the night of August 27-28, he introduced 1,500 British from Hood's squadron into the harbor.
