6.17289.1728Beaujeu returned to the Great Lakes in June 1728 to take the post of Second in Command under Le Marchand de Lignery during the expedition against the Wisconsin Foxes , which was to meet an unfortunate fate . Lignery was ill for a good part of the trip and refused to hand over to Beaujeu the command of the 450 French and 1000 Amerindians . The Foxes escaped their pursuers and the large French detachment returned in September with nothing but recriminations .FWIKI
