1767 Midshipman on Mermaid
1770 Acting Lieutenant on sloop Bonetta
June 1773 - Autumn 1774 on Royal Oak (74) at Spithead
1774 Acting Lieutenant on Scarborough (20)to America
1775 Lieutenant on Canceaux. Took the landing party ashore and burned Falmouth, now Portland.
1776 returned to England on Bristol
1777 Commissioned to Hector (74), carried La Licorne to Portsmouth and returned to Hector
1779 Conqueror (74) as 1st Lieutenant
1780 - 1782? St Carlos then Romney
1782 Ruby to the West Indies, then Formidable, then Adamant
June 1784 Colossus whilst fitting out
