His full known details are in my book, I've updated this page to include that information. No known commission as lieutenant to the Marlborough though.

Frederic Cornwall was first lieutenant of /Marlborough/, 90. flagship of Admiral Thomas Mathews, at the Battle of Toulon on February 11/22, 1744. He succeeded to command when his cousin, Captain James Cornwall, was killed in action, but he was badly wounded himself, losing an arm. His later appointment to command, which conferred "post captain" rank, was backdated to February 11, 1743 in the official calendar. I don't know when he was transferred to /Marlborough/ or whether he served as a lieutenant on other ships between /Greenwich/ and /Marlborough/.
