Charles, you are correct, his first commission, in 1720, was as 3rd lieutenant of the Weymouth. Also please note that the use of HMS as a name prefix for this period is anachronistic.

Charles Fanshawe was one of the jurors who sat in judgement of the pirates of Bartholomew Robert's fleet in 1722. The two ships that were responsible for capturing Robert's men were the HMS Swallow and the HMS Weymouth, which indicates that Fanshawe was already in service aboard the Weymouth at that time. Commander of the fleet was Chaloner Ogle who would later be knighted for killing Captain Roberts.
