London, 10 October 1748: On Friday was a Board of Admiralty, when their Lordships appointed Capt Hanbury, to be commander of the Serpent sloop, a new ship lately launched. [Kentish Post, 12 October 1748]

I am most interested in this Thomas Hanbury, and have been researching him for genealogical purposes, but have found interesting things about the sinking of the Serpent from the London Post and am quite interested in his dismissal; i have found information relevant to this (I believe) in the National Archives. Would love to talk to an expert! -- Dave
