I think that this chap was one of my ancestors. I have a head and shoulders portrait of him. I still have to link him to myself.

Captian William Hill was born on 23 November 1783 (not 1799) and died on 4th January 1840. He has a memorial in St. Mary's Church, Hennock, Devon. He is buried in the family vault outside the church alongside his wife Rose, his parents and his brother, Lt. Col John Hill, RWF. William Hill was at Trafalgar and John was at Waterloo.
