See "Royal Navy Officers of the Seven Years War" for Chistopher Bassets full career, including pre-commission postings. You are correct though, commissioned as 2nd lieutenant of the Ramillies on 7th Oct. 1755.

Christopher Bassett was 2nd lieutenant on the Ramillies having being transferred to her on 7th October 1755
