L'Insurgente was a Semillante class 32 gun frigate. Her original armament was supposed to be 26-12# and 6-6#. See page 130 of French Warships in the Age of Sail 1786-1861 by Rif Winfield and Stephen S. Roberts. According to Howard Chapelle, in The History of the American Sailing Navy, page 173, at the time of her capture, she carried 24-12#, 2-18#, 8-6#, 4-36#c and 2-24# carronades.
