The Amitie French schooner, that was brought into Plymouth, was formerly an American, is of the build of that country, and has not the smallest appearance of a privateer: when her ports are shut, she shews a plain yellow side, like a merchantman, and, to heighten the deception, she is marked on the stern, “Star, of Boston.” If the Plymouth lugger had not met with her so early, she would have done much mischief to the trade of this country. [Hampshire Chronicle, 8 April 1797]
