Extract of a letter from Belfast, May 1,
The Revenge privateer of Brest, mounting 22 guns, and 125 men, had an engagement off the coast of Scotland with the Sturdy Beggar, of 16 guns, belonging to Glasgow, which lasted for six glasses, when the later was taken but in so shattered a condition that she run ashore on Isles and the crew were saved.
The French privateer being short of water, and provisions, her Captain was advised to run into Larne Harboure for a supply, by the Capt. of the Sturdy Beggar, being employed as a pilot, in she came.
