On the 16th Instant, Cape Finisterre bearing S. S. W. 18 Leagues, His Majesty's Ship under my command, after a chace of 6 hours, captured L'Enfant de la Patrie French Privateer, belonging to Bordeaux, of 16 guns and 130 men, 8 days out of Port, and had not taken any thing . Her captain, who I understand from the prisoners, was in liquor fired his guns and musquetry and run on board the Boston ; by which rashness 5 of his men were killed, himself drowned, and 10 men wounded.
I am, SIR, &c. &c. &c.
