My great-grandfather John Lickfold (1830-1931) was aboard this ship during the Crimean war as an able seaman.

Researching Henry Duncan Grant who was a mate aboard the ship under Codrington..much later he became an admiral....anyone have any notes about the ship etc thx

Was this the rear Admirals ship ?
I believe my 2nd G grandfather John Turner was the chief engineer on this ship.
Can anyone confirm this ?

1853 to 1856, you have the wrong Captain of the ship, not Sir Edward but his son HENRY JOHN CODRINGTON.
I think that you show Sir Edward having died in 1851?

I have for some time now been tracing my ancestry back through the years and find that my GtGt Grandfather was on board this ship HMS Royal George from the 11th Feb 1854 until 5th May 1856 as an Acting Seamen it was during this time he was at Crimea during the war and was awarded the Baltic Medal.
