London, 28 September 1751: By the arrival of the Ilchester, Capt Tedd, from the East-Indies, we have advice of the death of Mr John Curson, Purser of that ship who died at Persia some time since. [Kentish Post, 2 October 1751]

Previous entry should read as follows -
London, 11 May 1751: Yesterday the Pursers of the Boscawen, Capt Braund, from Bombay, and the Fort St George, Capt Burdett, from Fort St George, came to the India-House, with the agreeable news, that the said ships arrived safe the 7th Instant off Plymouth. By the above ships there is advice that the Lord Anson, Capt Fowles, and the Shaftesbury, Capt Booky, were arrived at Bombay, and the Ilchester, Capt Tedd, at Persia. The Britannia, Capt Summer, is gone to Bengal; the Walpole, Capt Fee, lost her passage to India, and was returned to Bengal; Capt Low, who went out commander, is dead. The Warren, Capt Glover, is gone to Bengal; the Swallow, Capt Bell, was to be dispatched from Fort St David’s, the middle of January; and the Kent, Capt Robson, the London, Capt Sedgwick, and the Benjamin, Capt Meard, were to sail from Bengal in December. [Kentish Post, 15 May 1751]

I am a relation of Captain John Tedd and agree with Christopher Tedd that the spelling of the captains name John Todd is incorrect and it is important to living relations that it be corrected to John Tedd. Could you please attend to this matter. The error most probably happened because of the autofill assuming his surname was Todd.

I've come across this page while researching family history, and suspect the name of the commander listed is incorrectly spelled. Multiple publications elsewhere list the Commanders name as "John Tedd" - e.g." A Register of Ships..." for the East India Company (printed 1798), has multiple references to John Tedd as master of the Ilchester, and the previously the Wilmington. There is also a reference to Tedd as master of the Ilchester in the London "General Evening Post", Nov 2nd 1758.
