London, 2 December 1751: On Friday Capt Walpole of the Houghton for China, and Capt Furnell of the Exeter, for St Helena and Bencoolen, with Messieurs Pique, Hadley and Goddard, Supercargoes of the Houghton, for China, took their leave of the bCourt of Directors of the India Company. [Kentish Post, 4 December 1751]

London, 13 June 1751: Yesterday the following ships were taken up into the service of the India Company, viz, a new ship in the room of the Houghton; a new ship, Capt Peck; the Colchester, Capt Roger Manwaring; the Oxford, Capt Robert Stevens; the Exeter, Capt William Firnele [sic]; a new ship, Capt Benjamin Fisher; the Bombay Castle; the Godolphin, Capt John Stevens; the Dorrington, Capt Drake; the Admiral Vernon, Capt Edmund Cooks; the Dodington, Capt Norton Hutchinson; the Chesterfield, Capt Edwin Carter; the Pelham, Capt George Linsey; and the Rhoda, Capt John McNamara.
