Saturday afternoon Mr Black, purser of the Lady Shore, received the government dispatches for Botany Bay from the Duke of Portland’s office, and immediately set off for Portsmouth, to join the ship. The above ship has now on-board 110 men, women and children, belonging to the New South Wales corps, and 70 convicts, among whom are Major Semple, and Knowles, the Duke of Portland’s late porter. [Hampshire Chronicle, 22 April 1797]
