Portsmouth, 6 February 1802: The total number of officers and troops belonging to His Majesty’s Regiments serving in the East Indies, will be embarked at this port, on board the Company’s ships, in the following proportion, viz, for Bengal by the Lady Burges, Lady Jane Dundas, Marquis Wellesley, and Baring, 29 officers and 475 men; for Madras, per Perseverance, Alnwick Castle, Cirencester, and Marchioness of Exeter, 19 officers and 825 men, making a total of 1300 non commissioned officers and privates.
