London, 20 February 1802: Yesterday John Reddie, Esq, attended at the India House, and was sworn by the Court of Directors of the East India Company into the command of the ship Neptune, consigned to China this season, in the room of Captain Spens, deceased. The Neptune is one of the last ships to be dispatched this season, and is ordered by the Court to be afloat on the 4th of March, and in the Downs on the 23d of April.
