BWAS-1603We understand by your letter of the 3rd inst; that you have bought the Bedford Galley for HM's service and ordered her to be received by the Deptford Yard. The Officers of the Yard have reported on the number of Men and nature of Guns to be established on her and you are to cause her to be established accordingly, and fitted out for Channel service for ten weeks for her highest complement of Men.
ADM/AWe direct you to cause the Men belonging to the Bedford Galley (lately returned from Newfoundland and now in Longreach) to be reduced to the lowest Complement of Men established on her, and whereas there is now aboard her two boys, Edward Bigley and Daniel Parker, who are evidences against one John Cates accused by them of sodomy, you are to cause them to be entered and borne aboard the said Ship as part of the aforesaid Complement.
