July 1740 - The Bonetta sloop, Capt. Young, in her passage from Oporto, met with a Spanish privateer that took the Townshend packet, and engaged her above four hours, in which the privateer lost a great many men, and was so damaged that it is beleived she foundered beforeshe got into port. The privateer had 200 men and the sloop but 40.
