The most significant event in this ship's history was on 21 May 1762 when in command of Philemon Pownoll, in company with HMS Active, 6th rate/28 guns (Capt. Herbert Sawyer), was the taking of the Spanish Register Ship Hermione off Cape St. Vincent. The net prize money distributed was £519,750 with Captain Sawyer's share being £65,053 and Commander Pownoll's share being £64,812, the difference being the Bounty ["Head"] Money awarded solely to the Active for making the capture with Favorite "in sight."
