1 Aug 1801 letters from the Jason, wrecked near St. Maloes, state that the officers and crew were all saved, though prisoners of war.

9 Aug 1801 late Friday evening 2 French cartels arrived at St Helen's, with Capt Murray, and a part of the crew of the Jason on board. Capt Murray is reported to have departed directly for the Admiralty and arrived the following day.

Circa Aug 1801 J.S. Kelly, Esq. Surgeon of his Majesty's late ship Jason, is appointed to the Malta.

Circa Aug-Sep 1801 J. Edgcumbe, Esq. late Purser of the Jason, is appointed to the Vigilant.

20 Aug 1801 a Court Martial was held on board the Gladiator, in Portsmouth harbour, on the Hon. Captain John Murray and his Officers, of his Majesty's late ship Jason, for the loss of that ship at St. Maloes. After a full investigation, Captain Murray and his Officers were acquitted.
