Copy letter from Captain Randell, Agent for Transports, to the Board. Yesterday (6.3.1762), my signal being on the Admiral, I made sail under his lee quarter to receive his orders and saw the Houghton East Indiaman under our lee bow. They would not bear away so we were taken amidships and lost the main mast and mizzen and were stove. Sir George Pocock ordered myself and a clerk on board and sent the Laurel under the convoy of the Rippon for the first port of safety. The Lieutenant and people were all left in her and the stores. The Admiral proposes to put me on a victualler to continue the Service.
