London, 6 December 1720: We have an account, that on the 26th past, in the evening, the Captain of his Majesty’s ship the Monk, took the advantage of the high water to get that ship in through Yarmouth Road and brought her to an anchor about two miles to the south of the pier; but on the 27th, the water increasing, and finding no possibility of saving her, the officers (by the opinion of the pilots) ran her ashore about a mile to the south of Golstone, and have been since employed in saving her stores and provisions. [Ipswich Journal, 10 December 1720]
