Gosport, 5 March1752: On Tuesday arrived at Spithead from the Nore, his Majesty’s ship Phoenix, having on board the men draughted from the guardships at Chatham; and yesterday morning they were sent into the harbour and put on board the Tyger and Invincible, &c. The Tyger, Invincible, Penzance, and Jason men of war , are fitting for sea service with all expedition. [Kentish Post, 14 March 1752]

London, 4 January 1752: Yesterday the Lords of the Admiralty put the Phoenix man of war into commission, and gave the command of her to the Hon Capt Hervey, brother to the Earl of Bristol. [Kentish Post, 8 January 1752]
