14.5.1807Becalmed off Nice whilst chasing a small vessel which seemed to be unarmed. Her boats were lowered to row to the enemy and board, but were received with a deadly fire of great guns and small arms which killed or wounded 63 out of the 70 of the party. Among the killed or mortally wounded were Lieutenants Weir, and Woodford Williams. The survivors retreated as best they could.TRN5
